Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Little Rock, Arkansas
Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Little Rock, Arkansas was the premier high school in Arkansas for black students. Opened in 1929, the brick structure was constructed using Rosenwald funds and housed a junior high, high school and junior college. Dunbar High School was unique in that it offered both college preparatory courses and industrial education. This exhibit highlights the student, faculty and staff who made Dunbar the school it was between 1929 and 1955. It will also feature the work of the National Dunbar Alumni Association and their efforts to stay connected to each other and the community. Artifacts will include yearbooks, banners, t-shirts, and school programs.
